Play AV is ready for the future
PLAY AV is a reference in the sector of audiovisual techniques. They offer projectors, screens, LED integration, digital signage, interactive displays, video conference systems, audio installations,... which can be either rented or purchased. The head office in Nazareth and the branch in Zonhoven employ 50 people. In the context of the well-being of this motivated team and with sustainability in mind, Play AV acquired an AQUALEX tap water cooler.

At the time of our visit, Play AV had just been acquired. Founder Dirk Verhellen felt that after 28 years it was time for the next generation. It's Vic Hoste, who has been working there for 7 years, who has acquired the company, together with his brother Bruno. Their ambition? "To continue specialising, so that we can keep offering the added value for which we are renowned. Because it is not only with our high-quality products that we make a difference, but especially with our expertise. Our lighting, sound and image technicians use their extensive experience to provide advice on total solutions for all kinds of audiovisual installations."
And demand is high, because the corona crisis has led to a boom in interest in such solutions. This is mainly due to the evolution towards hybrid events and meetings, explains Vic, and this had an impact on Play AV's rental department. "Before covid, events took place 100% live. During the crisis, everything had to be done remotely. So we took the opportunity to set up two studios in our building, complete with green key, lodges, etc. This enabled companies to continue their product presentations and general meetings. In the meantime, this digital way of working has further evolved into a combination of both: a live event is now often streamed, so that participants can follow it from a distance."
For their own spaces, companies are looking more than ever for high-quality video conferencing systems. "Meeting rooms used to be equipped for live meetings. A laptop shared by three persons was sufficient for a video call, so to speak. Now, much more attention is paid to this: every participant in a meeting must be clearly visible and investments are made to ensure good sound quality. Our sales department boasts a very wide range of solutions, including fully equipped 'Team Rooms' or 'Zoom Rooms', where participants no longer even need to bring their laptops."
Choice of sustainability and AQUALEX
At Play AV, sustainability is a top priority. "We have invested in solar panels, electric cars, charging stations and plug-in hybrids. The choice of a tap water cooler also reflects this mindset. I think it's ridiculous to pump up water, bottle it and then transport it 100 kilometres. The AQUALEX system is innovative and fits our image. It is also part of our employer branding, as we are committed to the well-being of our employees. And the device is super popular: employees fill their bottle (with company logo ) to take to their desk. Our people work many hours here, so we pay a lot of attention to a pleasant atmosphere: a bowl of soup in winter, walking together to the sandwich bar, a BBQ for the whole family,...".
The choice for AQUALEX was quickly made by the way: "We like to cooperate with companies from the region. This way we support each other. And of course, the design of the devices and taps is very aesthetically pleasing", Vic concludes.
