D.D.Trans, pseudonym of Frank Tuytschaever, lives and works in Kruiskerke and belongs to the same generation of artists as Honoré d'0, Wim Delvoye, Michel François and Ann Veronica Jans- sens. In his work, he often gives a small, surrealistic twist to everyday objects. The formal language of D.D. Trans thus ties in with minimalism.

The name D.D. Trans is a pseudonym taken from a now defunct transport company and lends an overarching meaning to his work. More than once, his art revolves around transformation. What poetry can do with words, D.D. Trans does with household, garden, and kitchen objects; with a little twist, he short-circuits the alliance between made things and their meaning. Simplicity, however, is not simplism. Harmlessly but carefully he bends them, ignited by association, a touch of rebellion and a subcutaneous, not too pronounced melancholy.

D.D. Trans's work looks light, but stings deeper than it appears. 'Lighthearted' covers the load better. With small gestures, he questions the language of things. He pulls on a feather and sets them on edge. More than that; unpretentious but well-aimed, he examines the status of the found object as a work of art. “I get inspiration from DIY stores or the Suprabazaar. That's the territory within which I hunt” says D.D. Trans.
