Jus Juchtmans
Jus Juchtmans is a Belgian painter ( 1952) whose work appears monochromatic but is time and space related, multiple layers give the work a unique color and sheen.
Monochromatic? Not immediately, Juchtmans applies different colors (micro)layer by (micro)layer, making his canvases seem to consist of multiple, subtly colorful dimensions. Look at the edges of his canvases, where the drops of the different layers were left undisturbed. Because of the materials used, the whole of a canvas also offers a certain reflection, of the viewer himself first and foremost, but also the space around it. Is the intention to show that the works do not occupy a separate, independent place, but are part of their environment? We suspect so.
